Centrally located in the heart of downtown Kahului, on the shores of picturesque Kahului Bay, the Maui Beach Hotel is just minutes from Kahului Airport, shopping, beaches and golf courses. Rooms and suites decorated in a lovely island style, offer ocean, garden or city views. In addition to an on-site restaurant, lounge, swimming pool, and fitness center, there are meeting rooms and a ballroom, making it a perfect location for business conferences and weddings.
I do not recommend this place. The walls were not very clean and the rooms had bugs. The lady at the counter was rude she didn’t reaerve our shuttle which made our check in to the flight late. I sincerely do not recommend, last time staying in this place.
Great if you have a late arriving flight or early departure
The hotel is near the airport, and it's old, and it's cheap (ish). The paint is peeling, the A/C is loud, and the beach nearby smells funny. There was a roach in the bathroom.
However, we got in late the first night and were able to get kids settled in, get dinner, and then do the long drive to Kaanapali the next day, so this worked out fine. Staff is friendly, the beds are fine enough to sleep on. Nothing fancy, but the courtyard with the gazebo is pretty.
Again, the staff is really nice and helpful. It's a good deal if you need it, but it's more of a functional motel than a hotel.
Near the airport
This is a simple hotel that served us well. It was clean, the staff was helpful. We enjoyed walking out behind it for a waterfront view as well as the coconut weather predictor. The dinner buffet had lots of interesting optiions but we were quite surprised to see the bill and find out that we were charged extra for our ice teas. The chief advantage to staying here involved the fact that one of our pieces of luggage didn’t arrive on the same flight as we did. Because we were staying so close to the airport, it was easy to have the luggage delivered in a timely manner when it finally got to Maui.
Right on the ocean and very close to the airport. Noting special but easy to get to and from. Friendly staff, clean. The grounds surrounding the motel are beautiful. Waking up every morning looking out at palm trees didn't hurt either. Restaurant is nice with open air and high ceilings but that's about it. Food is average and pricing is high for it's quality compared to other offerings near by. Beds were small but that seems to be common.
The reviews explain what to expect.
So this is an OK hotel. I believe if you come prepared with the list below your rating may move into a more favourable zone.
Flipflops. This will avoid the barefoot squish at the 2am bathroom visit and do the fauna florishing in the bathroom a solid with at least a small amount of warning. Shower visits become less of worry too.
Can of raid. Obviously this is Hawaii. Something to kill bugs always helps. Bring it inside.
Earplugs. These come in handy for two reasons. The hotel is located between two very busy roads which seems to be a local favourite for nighttime car enthusiasts. Also if you like sleeping at a reasonable temperature you will want the air conditioner on, and this beast of a machine seems to have a life of its own. It wheezes, clicks, vibrates to attention and puffs out a solid blast of freezing air. This cycle is repeated every 8 to 15 mins.
Eye mask. The curtains whilst stiffened with age, fabreeze and the damp and salty Hawaiin air do not close properly allowing light in sharp shards to enter the room.
Electrical gloves. Just in case you may want to turn on your bedside light. No one likes getting shocked. See pic.
The rooms clean and tidy. The staff obviously are working with what they have amd do a great job in this respect. The pool is nice and my daughter had fun.
