Centrally located in the heart of downtown Kahului, on the shores of picturesque Kahului Bay, the Maui Beach Hotel is just minutes from Kahului Airport, shopping, beaches and golf courses. Rooms and suites decorated in a lovely island style, offer ocean, garden or city views. In addition to an on-site restaurant, lounge, swimming pool, and fitness center, there are meeting rooms and a ballroom, making it a perfect location for business conferences and weddings.
Our vacation dates got moved around and where we were staying for 6 out of the 7 nights wasn’t available for the first night of our vacation. We shopped around for an economy room, we only needed one night, how bad could it be..... The Maui Beach Hotel, left a lot to be desired. Let’s just say, we woke up in the morning, before sunrise and said let’s get outa here. Now, we do regularly stay in 4 star hotels/condos and we knew this was budget accommodations but.... the hotel could have updated a lot of their services and amenities. Yes there is a free shuttle, yes there is a pool, yes they do have beach access.... but don’t let the pictures fool you. We were given the tiniest room. The room was clean, there were lots of clean towels and there was plenty of hot water in the shower.... but, the room was so tiny, we could barely fit our one suitcase in the room. There were no towels for use at the pool and the water was freezing. Plenty of sun out at the pool, they could cover it at night or spring for some kind of heating. Maybe if it was 100 degrees outside.... the freezing water would be nice. There is a restaurant but I think only for buffet dinner. You can’t walk around with cocktails/drinks from the bar, even out to the pool. You can’t take your bar drink outside to the garden lounge chairs. The grounds are kept very nice and maybe the rooms with garden facing terraces are better. I believe some of the reviews that give this hotel 5 out of 5 are planted. I can imagine that this place at one time was the best around.... but, not today. Clean, yes, budget yes, but for $200 a night, most rooms are super small and there isn’t much to do, see or enjoy.
Great staff and dining
I come to Maui for work often and always know that at Maui Beach Hotel I can have a great view of the harbor while dining at their restaurant. The staff are also very helpful and are always ready to greet you with a smile. Sheryl was very helpful and always courteous as is the rest of the staff I met. Definitely worth it, I recommend it!
Visiting Maui Beach Hotel
(Lanai City, Hawaii)
Comfortable Rooms. Only complaint -- the lobby music was obnoxiously loud and so un-Hawaiian. Better to play (quietly) some Hawaiian music. Or, play nothing at all. When I asked (early in the morning; no one else in the lobby) to lower the volume, it went down perhaps one decibel.
No frills but good location
(Queens, New York)
More like a motel atmosphere. Room was kind of humid and had a wet carpet odor, mattress was quite uncomfortable. Noise level can be high at times and the smoke from people smoking outside our room kept coming in through our ac window unit. But you get what you pay for, this is one of the more affordable hotels on the island and took about 5 minutes to drive from the airport to the hotel. Car rental was free technicially but we still had to pay Alamo taxes, gas fees, and whatever other fees that the hotel didn’t cover. Great location for getting to hot spots on Maui. Far from road to Hana and but about 40 min drive from Lahaina. Their beach has no sand so it’s just grass and beach chairs which is good for tanning but not so much for swimming cuz it’s quite windy and there are quite a few rocks by the shoreline. I’ll probably try Maui seaside next time, not much to lose. But I would go back to this hotel for its price. If you plan a Haleakala tour, you get dropped off first by most tour companies so that’s a plus. Food at the hotel is pretty good. I would recommend just paying for a to go order instead of the buffet.
Bring your Hammock!
(San Francisco, California, United States)
We recently stayed a at the Maui Beach Hotel. The staff was great. Shirley, our housekeeper on the second floor was a delight to see and talk to. She also made sure our room was clean and comfortable for the duration of our stay. There is a small beach behind the hotel and Palms trees, where you can put your hammock up, if you are a hammock person like I am.
It was a great place to sit and listen to the waves and/or watch surfers. If you want to stay away form the busy life, and look for something more quiet and peaceful, this is the hotel to stay.
And if you want to go out and explore all the famous beaches, food and National parks, that is also not too far from the hotel as well.
It is also very close to everything.
It is only a few minutes from the Maui Kahului (OGG) Airport as well as Car rentals places.
There is also a car rental here at the hotel, make sure to call for pricing.
There is also a shuttle at the hotel that will take you anywhere within the 3 miles radius. We used the shuttle to get food as well as some shoppings around the area.
Ask the front desk for more info.
