Centrally located in the heart of downtown Kahului, on the shores of picturesque Kahului Bay, the Maui Beach Hotel is just minutes from Kahului Airport, shopping, beaches and golf courses. Rooms and suites decorated in a lovely island style, offer ocean, garden or city views. In addition to an on-site restaurant, lounge, swimming pool, and fitness center, there are meeting rooms and a ballroom, making it a perfect location for business conferences and weddings.
Everything you need without paying for the extras you may not care about
A block or 4 to everything you could want, including the very organized Maui transit hub to everywhere at the The Queen Ka'ahumanu Center (across the street to the right). $4 gets you an all day transit pass to explore the island and the activity hub at Ma'alea (+ aquarium) is just a 20 minute bus ride. Sunsets at Wailea, Lahaina, Ka'anapali beaches but don't miss the last bus back! Get the Maui transit app.
Big/Little Beach is $13 Uber ride from the Shops at Wailea (the last transit stop).
Hotel staff was excellent. Beach is sketchy, but there is a nicer beach at the Maui Seaside hotel next door (+ an accessible pool).
Kanaha Beach Park is a 10 minute drive - ask if the hotel shuttle will drive you there.
Excellent shopping within 4 blocks! Sunday evening outdoor market - 2 blocks from the hotel.
Hertz car rental on-site. Super easy access to the Road to Hana (worth the 8-10 hour day trip on narrow winding seaside road...many waterfalls, fruit/food stands). Don't miss the beach at Kipahulu!! No point going further than that. Dinner at Mama's Fish House on the way back is $60/plate - gorgeous and memorable. Reservations recommended, but they took us without a res at 8 pm - valet parking makes it super easy.
We saw humpback whales breaching from half the beaches we visited on both sides of the island.
Great location made high price worthwhile
(Federal Way, Washington)
Seemed expensive --no breakfast included, but very convenient location near airport and a mall, with good views of water and green area, so those perks made the hotel more worth the price. Walking distance to mall, restaurants, etc.
Housekeepers were friendly and helpful, but hotel room small for size of king bed, etc –2 could not squeeze thru. Furniture tattered looking, but adequate.
Bathtub appreciated and balcony view and breeze was very enjoyable.
We didn't eat in restaurant.
Fruited water, etc available in lobby --also free newspapers and "word of the day"!
Not fabulous.... but.....

Our vacation dates got moved around and where we were staying for 6 out of the 7 nights wasn’t available for the first night of our vacation. We shopped around for an economy room, we only needed one night, how bad could it be..... The Maui Beach Hotel, left a lot to be desired. Let’s just say, we woke up in the morning, before sunrise and said let’s get outa here. Now, we do regularly stay in 4 star hotels/condos and we knew this was budget accommodations but.... the hotel could have updated a lot of their services and amenities. Yes there is a free shuttle, yes there is a pool, yes they do have beach access.... but don’t let the pictures fool you. We were given the tiniest room. The room was clean, there were lots of clean towels and there was plenty of hot water in the shower.... but, the room was so tiny, we could barely fit our one suitcase in the room. There were no towels for use at the pool and the water was freezing. Plenty of sun out at the pool, they could cover it at night or spring for some kind of heating. Maybe if it was 100 degrees outside.... the freezing water would be nice. There is a restaurant but I think only for buffet dinner. You can’t walk around with cocktails/drinks from the bar, even out to the pool. You can’t take your bar drink outside to the garden lounge chairs. The grounds are kept very nice and maybe the rooms with garden facing terraces are better. I believe some of the reviews that give this hotel 5 out of 5 are planted. I can imagine that this place at one time was the best around.... but, not today. Clean, yes, budget yes, but for $200 a night, most rooms are super small and there isn’t much to do, see or enjoy.
Great staff and dining
I come to Maui for work often and always know that at Maui Beach Hotel I can have a great view of the harbor while dining at their restaurant. The staff are also very helpful and are always ready to greet you with a smile. Sheryl was very helpful and always courteous as is the rest of the staff I met. Definitely worth it, I recommend it!
Visiting Maui Beach Hotel
(Lanai City, Hawaii)
Comfortable Rooms. Only complaint -- the lobby music was obnoxiously loud and so un-Hawaiian. Better to play (quietly) some Hawaiian music. Or, play nothing at all. When I asked (early in the morning; no one else in the lobby) to lower the volume, it went down perhaps one decibel.
