With its plantation style architecture and direct proximity to the beach, the Aston Islander on the Beach is the perfect hotel for those who want to get away from it all. Centrally located on Kauai’s Coconut Coast, the hotel is surrounded by six acres of tropical floral gardens and swaying palm trees. Our outdoor pool area features charming, hut-like cabanas and a poolside bar. Best of all, the beach is right at its doorstep.
Check-in was ok, no porterage and is a 3 storey walk up so don't bring too many bags. Location is amazing, beach is beautiful and warm water. We saw a seal on the beach the first day. No food in the resort, Lava Lava next door is a good.place to eat or there is a shopping centre across the road. Rooms were ok but a lil run down, bathrooms are large. Pool is small for size of complex but other than that is all good.
Great location right at the beach
Great location in a calm area right at the beach. The area consist of several 3 floors bungalows in a green area which makes it nice and open.
The rooms was nice and clean with a small fridge and a nice coffee machine. We had a sofa bed for the kids, which was a bit hard.
The balcony is good for 2 people - but there is nowhere to hang the wet swimwear and you will be told off by a policeman if you use the railing (we know...).
The pool was nice but the jacuzzi was not too clean (probably because guests forget to shower before getting in...).
There is a great restaurant next to the hotel "Lava Lava" where you sit in the sand on the beach.
The parking is free - but you pay $20 in resort fee.
Can’t make it up
Nice place, beautiful grounds and shore. Lumpy mattress with no box spring , joke pillow.
Woody Allen described whistle shrieking water pipes as sounding like a small animal being tortured between the walls. Well ok. Management has to know, they aren’t going to fix these things. Then, and you can’t make this up. Last day of the stay a bug as big as your tallest finger , on the bedroom floor at mid day, doing a convincing impression of a cockroach. Really? At an Aston property? I presented it to the manager. A very brief, quit apology . That’s it. Checked out next morning. You have to have some minimum standards.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Aston. The beds were comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The view was quite nice, not the best, but nice. The same with the beach. The only real complaint that I have about the place was the resort fee. Resort fees always bother me, but when they exceed $20, it's an excessive expense that some may not have counted on.
Go to relax.
This was our second hotel on a three island tour taking almost three weeks. We arrived early but were greeted and pre-checked in with luggage stroage and suggestions of placves to see while we waited.
With no rush we broused the local area right behind the hotel. many shops and services and restaurants very close by. it was a nice time to familiarize ourselves with the immediate area.
This is a nicely laid out hotel with many amentities and options. A nice pool and bar area. lage well manicured lawns and gardens. Definitely kjept as an island paradise. itw was the beginning of the shoulder season and some renovations and upgrades were already underway.
The room was large and romy with a good fridge, ,icrowave and coffeemaker as well as a small cook top. A large baclony gave us a view of the oceian.
The hotel was quiet and well monitored by security at akll times of the day and night.
We recieved two free movie rtentals and two free coffee voucheres for each day for a fantastic littl coffee shop immediatly outside the front gate.
Everything was as we expected in this hotel. Very nice.
