Aston at the Waikiki Banyan is a long-time favorite among Kamaaina and return visitors alike, emanating a traditional Hawaii atmosphere that so many love. Located just one block away from energetic Kalakaua Avenue, it’s close to shopping and restaurants but slightly removed to the peaceful side of Waikiki. Aston at the Waikiki Banyan offers on-site conveniences that include a coffee shop and a large recreation deck that features barbecue grills, a children's playground area, a swimming pool, sauna, and two jet spas. With all the excitement and a stunning backdrop of Waikiki's cityscape, you’ve got hours of fun in the Hawaiian sun.
Our prominent view was makai tower in front of room. Ocean view partial through many other buildings. They waived the amenity fee to make up for this, but we didn't use a single amenity either. H20 listed as amenity but didn't receive. Got placed in an ADA room that looked nothing like web photos. Hallway construction with ripped put baseboard and exposed outlets and dry wall. Bed rock hard and AC which faces living room didn't cool bedroom much. A very very noisy location with people screaming way past midnight.
I would only recommend this hotel if you really need a kitchen ( which was nice) and are on a budget. Wailiki in general felt like spring break for college and high school kids, loud and crowded.
Aston wailiki sunset despite its dreary lobby has a much better views and also features kitchens.
Dirty and dated
Our room and tower was very dated and dirty. Deserate need of a deep cleaning and update. My 2 yr old was screamed at by a board member. The member then continued to scream at us and threatened to call security when we were complying with everything she wanted. Other staff were friendly. Parking was convenient.
The room looked out dated, stains on the carpet and couch. The bed was just two twins put together along with a 1-2 inch foam below the bed covers(to “enhance” the comfort I assume.” The bathroom had dust and didn’t look like it was wiped down. There was a lot of cracks in the walls. Carpet and couch looked and felt filthy. The blinds/drapes were somewhat ripped and dirty. Only took this hotel due to kitchen. As far as price goes, I have a friend staying at the hotel next to this one for about the same price with much more updated/remodeled room.
Great for a family with kids
(Las Vegas, Nevada)
Great for a family with kids and staying longer than a couple nights. Having kitchen, living room, and bed room was nice. Very convenient location to walk to Waikiki beach and restaurants. All staff was nice and friendly. We did not know (I think hotel name has changed), but it was the same hotel we stayed 10 years ago. We will probably come back for the next trip :)
Very close to beach, shopping, and restaurants
(Los Angeles, California)
Very close to beach, shopping, and restaurants, so you can walk to everything. We didn't need a car unless we wanted to go to the other side of the island, which was only for 3 days. So we saved money by just renting the car for 3 days and getting a shuttle for $12 per person each way to the hotel.
