Aston Mahana at Kaanapali is a tranquil tropical retreat that takes full advantage of its beautiful Northern Kaanapali Beach setting. Guests rave about the beautiful landscaping and decor, but it’s the ocean that is truly the star of the show. Every suite boasts floor-to-ceiling oceanfront views that make you feel as if you’re floating above the Pacific. Each unit includes a full kitchen, washer, and dryer unit, and breezy balconies. Enjoy all the comforts of home, with breathtaking views of Lanai and Molokai as an added bonus.
This condo complex is right on the water. Every unit offers amazing views of the ocean and islands. It was wonderful to be able to hear the waves crashing while we slept. There was a full kitchen stocked with everything we needed to make breakfast and dinner. Several times during our stay we walked down a couple hundred feet to Duke's for happy hour and listened to live music and watched the sunset.
The complex is very well maintained. I love that it is quiet especially compared to other resorts that appeal mostly to families with small children. Front staff is friendly and very helpful. We were able to book activities directly with the concierge which saved us both time and money. The Mahana is now our favorite place to stay when in Maui!
Fantastic location and room views
(Agoura Hills, California)
This place deserves every-bit of a 4 star rating. The only reason I cannot give it a 5 is because the bed in our studio was a bit noisy, let’s say comfortable, but on the less expensive side!
The rooms are as advertised, facing the beautiful and aqua color water and nightly unobstructed sunsets. This was by far the best reason to be at this resort.
The staff were all nice and always present to assist. We had daily room service and access to the small but very refreshing swimming pool. The best part was also to walk out and be able to immediately swim or snorkel at the ocean. Or just sit at your shaded balcony and watch others do the same. Very little traffic ships, paddlers, or generally speaking anyone in your view.
The excursions were also well supported here and you really didn’t have to work hard or venture far to get the deals that suits your plans. We also saw a number of guest grill out by the pool or in front near the parking lot. As there are no restaurants at the resort. But you can literally walk 5 minutes to Duke’s for dinner, breakfast, or happy hour. Or tot he food truck center nearby with dozens of variety all served next to one another. Or shop Times grocery.
This was an excellent week long vacation at this location and makes us feel we want to come back. I can go on and on but we were very pleased with out choice and money for the value received.
Romantic, waterfront condo--308 Mahana
We were delighted by how beautifully decorated and well-stocked this lovely condo was. From the granite kitchen counters to the Oriental rug and realistic sea turtle sculpture in the living room to the master bath with the huge stone shower and all the supplies---hair dryer, curling iron, make-up mirror. The sound of the waves beneath the lanai that you can reach from both the master bedroom and living room soothed, and you can watch the sun sink below the waves between Molokai and Lanai as you eat dinner. There were two TV flat screen TVs, and a wonderful collection of books, including everything from the history of the island to identifying the flora and fauna to one of my all-time favorites books, Montgomery’s Soul of an Octopus. The AC worked great to cool the place down while we were away snorkeling at Black Rock or Napilli Bay during the day, and the blackout curtains were great for sleeping in. The kitchen had everything—spices, different types of wine glasses, sharp cutting knives, paper towels, aluminum foil—you name it. There were also plenty of fluffy white bath towels and beach towels---all of which could be easily washed in the washer and dryer in the unit. The tropical floral arrangements looked real, and added just that extra touch. It was romantic perfection, and I don’t get the people who complain about the palm tree outside the living room window. The tree provided a stunning tropical foreground to the sea, waves and islands behind it. We plan to come back!
Amazing view & sunsets. Nicely equipped condo that could use a few upgrades.
Just returned from 14 beautiful nights in Mahana #814 with amazing views and sunsets. The oceanfront view looking towards the other islands was gorgeous. You look out your floor to ceiling windows directly at the islands of Molokai and Lanai, which provide some amazing sunsets each night.
You are walking distance to a small strip mall with a full-size Times supermarket. About seven food trucks were parked in a lot across from the mall. The hotel is at the northwest end of the Ka'anapali Beach Walk. Several nice restaurants (Duke’s is right next door) are a ten to twenty-minute walk down this popular path. We found some of the best snorkel spots just in front of Duke’s.
Single pane windows in the unit get very warm from 1 pm to 6 pm. You must close shades (nice to have see-thru shades) to keep out some heat. Can’t hear ocean waves with doors shut and A/C cuts off if you open doors. Need fans when doors are open. The bedroom has no ceiling fan. We purchased a standing oscillating fan at Ace Hardware for $30. WiFi has been great. A smart TV with Netflix / Amazon Prime would have been nice. TV programs were minimal. DVD/BluRay/VHS player in the room. There is a RED BOX DVD machine in the lobby. Also nice library in the lobby with lots of books as well as a selection of books in room.
The clothes dryer only works on one setting which they were unable to fix during our visit but it was still usable. The bed is not attached to the frame, beware to not sit on end or you will flip the mattress over on yourself. No lightning on Lanai, can’t eat outside after dark. Also, drapes in bedroom ARE NOT blackout. Bedding & bed in the bedroom was ok not great. Sofa bed in living room pretty hard. The pool and hot tub were nice. Lighting around the pool was not good. Great binder in the unit for locations of beaches.
Our 2 weeks in this unit was great. You can’t beat the view and location.
This place was amazing all around. The ocean front view looking towards the other islands was gorgeous. And the rooms were great. Thank you for such a wonderful home away from home. This was definitely the best vacation I've had.
The Hawaiian word Mahana means ‘twins' and was chosen to represent the two “twin” towers that make up our property. Together with stunning views of Molokai and Lanai (the two islands that can be seen from our resort) Mahana is a special name for our place in paradise.
