Aston Mahana at Kaanapali is a tranquil tropical retreat that takes full advantage of its beautiful northern Kaanapali Beach setting. Guests rave about the beautiful landscaping and decor, but it’s the ocean that is truly the star of the show with breathtaking views of Lanai and Molokai as an added bonus. An accessible location, drive from Kaanapali to Lahaina and other popular Maui attractions. On-site amenities include a pool, jet spa, shuffle board, tennis court, and barbecue grills.
Family came to visit from out of town and we joined them for a staycation at The Mahana. The construction is not even a factor. Everyone is adhering to wearing masks where needed and no more than 2 in the elevator if you are not part of the same family.
ONE OF THE BEST
This would be our 5th time that we stayed here at the Mahana inn and every time we had nothing but good times and lots of good memories and I’m sure we’ll come back again . People are very nice and accommodating here , our flight was late in the evening and they let us stay way pass check out time .
Worst place to stay in Maui
For anyone planning on staying at Aston Mahana at Kaanapali.. we were there from July 2-7th and this is what there rooms looked like. I complained but no one has called me back. Please save urself the hassle…
*cockroach in the cabinets
*stains in all the curtains
*ripped bedsheet and mattress
* dirty roof
*the broken concrete coming off the window and hurting us when we walk barefoot.
* paint under the bathroom sink and on top of the fridge cabinet
* fan and the dish washer didn’t work
* rusted dishwasher
*construction going on and it’s noisy
The view is nice and that’s about it. I paid $3300 and this was what I got.
Would not recommend to anyone.
Beautiful Ocean View
My husband and I have stayed here twice now and we absolutely love everything this place has to offer. Quiet and absolutely amazing view. Short walk to the grocery store/coffee/shops. Anything we needed the employees were able to accommodate.
Basic hotel but awesome ocean views!!!
(Orange County, California)
Depending on what you’re looking for this can be a great place. It’s on the way north end of Kaanapali. About two mile walk along the beach until you get to the paved beach walkway. It’s a ways out from most of the people. It’s a lot quieter. There is only a little bit of sand in front of the hotel, not the beat for swimming. But the hotel is literally right on the beach. Every room has a full ocean view. Love hearing the crashing waves as I go to sleep and when I wake up. It can get a little windy in the afternoons.
The pool is small and basic but is clean and never feels crowded. No the most little kids friendly. Goes from 4-9 feet deep. Hot tub is decent size.
They have tennis courts but you have to make reservations and bring your own tennis rackets and balls. They used to have rackets you could borrow but no more given covid. Maybe that will change in the future.
There are no restaurants in the hotel but there is a large food truck pod really close by with lot of restaurants and several grocery stores within a few miles.
It’s a basic hotel. Each room is individually owned so you can get a variable experience. They all have full kitchen with washer and drier and balcony. It is pretty old and it showed in some of the room designs but our two rooms were clean and well maintained.
Not a luxury hotel/resort but if you’re looking for a quieter place with great ocean views this is definitely worth considering.

The Hawaiian word Mahana means ‘twins' and was chosen to represent the two “twin” towers that make up our property. Together with stunning views of Molokai and Lanai (the two islands that can be seen from our resort) Mahana is a special name for our place in paradise.
