If you look up when you’re in Waikiki, the tallest building you’ll see is the appropriately named Aqua Skyline at Island Colony. At 44 stories tall, its accommodations offer full panoramic views of Waikiki beach, reaching to Diamond Head as well as the Honolulu skyline. With kitchenettes in every room, the Aqua Skyline is the perfect place to stay for value accommodations and convenient amenities while enjoying all of the delights of Waikiki.
Great location and workers, terrible parking accomodations
We booked through a third party and had to pay some hidden fees so our cheap rate wasn't so cheap, be careful with this. Otherwise the room was nice, the location was great, and the workers on site were all great. We had a blast and everything went well aside from a few things outside of their control.
Pros: Nice pool and hot tub, great BBQ's, nice workers.
Cons: Hidden fees, slow elevators during peak hours, and the parking structure not operated by the hotel was awful. They had no idea what they were doing and didn't keep track of anything so they continually tried to overcharge me. Be very careful as they seem like crooks trying to get extra money out of you and frustrating you until you give up.
Comfortable and friendly
We stayed in a suite with a view of diamond head. It had a lot of room and was comfortable and felt like being at home on vacation. It was close to all of the Waikiki attractions and had great views. What really made it remarkable for us was the staff. We went to the rooftop reception and the sunset views were spectacular. While we were there the staff was very helpful and gave us a lot of information regarding restaurants and tips about tours and getting around. The pool was nice and never crowded and the beach was nearby. You can get beach towels and chairs at the desk. It felt like staying with friends more than at a hotel.
Affordable and well located but pool out of order!
Picked this place solely for its affordability and the nice looking pool. Important for expensive and hot Waikiki. Hotel is well located for shopping with the beach a 10 minute walk. Rooms have been updated and a good size but missing a bedside lamp due to the bed being uncomfortably close to one wall. Was missing a TV remote and a HDMI cable for our free DVD rental but was fixed promptly. Air con was present but in a cheap and extremely noisy after market add on. Would benefit from a ceiling fan.
My major bug bear however was paying the $200 "resort fee" which was non-refundable to then find out from a notice in the lift that the pool and spa would be out of order for our whole stay. No mention of this from the staff or even a reduction in the fees to compensate for this. Resort fee is a joke, considering their free shuttle seldom arrived and the route too complicated, so we took the public bus which was quicker. I realise that the pool needs maintaining but some compensation needs to be made to customers staying there as having a functioning pool is pretty important in a place like Hawaii.
A good budget hotel but it might pay to call the hotel to make sure their pool is in working order if this is very important to you.
PRETTY BASIC ROOM BUT VIEW OF DIAMOND HEAD WORTH EVERY $
We stayed here for our last 4 of our 14 nights. Our requests when booking a year ago was HIGH FLOOR WITH VIEW. Well we certainly go that! The room is basic but had everything you need & plenty of stations to charge your devices. Air conditioning was on 24/7 & was beautiful a cool. Kitchenette was laughable just little fridge, microwave, kettle & 2 burner cooktop sink was bathroom sink to use. Didn't mind us we never used it anyway except to keep our drinks cold in fridge. Loved that there was a shop on same level as pool which was cheaper for smokes for my husband than anywhere else. Grabbed some nibblies from there too. It's a bit dodgy everyday there were police officers & cars(one day at the one time we counted 6) there looking for some girls (prostitutes) & going up & down the lifts 1 day they even had the fire department come too. Every day we had to complain about not having hot water to shower. Our last morning we had to be up at 4am to catch our 8am flight back to Oz & we had cold showers AGAIN. Very close to main shops & restaurants. Never used pool or BBQ area we were all about exploring especially coming all the way from Australia no time to sleep except when you have too. LOVED the concierge desk they were very helpful booked a couple of tours through them.
Fantastic views in a central location
Fantastic views of Ala Wai Canal, the sea and the skyline. Great pool and BBQ facilities and the staff and activity booking desk was helpful and knowledgeable. A very short walk to the beach and major shopping and T Galleria where the Trolley buses depart, so very central to get around easily.
