Would return in a heartbeat!
My husband and I stayed at this hotel the first week of December. The pool/oceanview rooms are very worth the upgrade. The grounds at this hotel are beautiful as well as the hotel itself. I chose this hotel as it everything to offer. Luckily, our week long stay offered us time to relax and be active. It was very convenient on the relaxing days to have everything we needed at the hotel. You could get up early and have direct beach access, if you like to beach walk. It’s not ideal for swimming as there is a lot of rock in the water. But the stretch of beach is long, with lots of beautiful beach wood. There are two pools and a hot tub. At one of the pools there is one side that has a water slide and the other area has a zero entry sand pool for children. The breakfast at the restaurant was very good and a very nice treat, but if you are looking for something more to go, there are breakfast sandwiches, bagels and muffins at the coffee shop in the gift store. For lunch, the pool bar and grill were a great option. Be prepared to have some friends joining you (hens and roosters). But that is part of the experience! One of the main reasons I have decided to write this review of our experience, was because of Efren who is one of the bartenders at the Shutters restaurant. We came down to eat at this restaurant the night we got there and sat at the bar. The atmosphere in the restaurant was wonderful and very casual. I believe they have nightly live music, or at least there was every time we were there. We very much enjoyed the food there as well (try the crab fries!). If you have a chance to sit at the bar and talk to Efren, do. He is a very kind, funny, wonderful human. Our interactions are very memorable and are so grateful he was part of our experience of Kauai. He was very helpful and showed so much vibrancy when talking about his island and directing us to the things we should do on it. He was most helpful. We also attended the hula show that the hotel puts on for free once a week. That was very nice to do one of the evenings and it was really enjoyable. It is held right at the pool area. Overall, our experience was great and we would return to this hotel for is quality, hospitality and location.
Would stay here again

the location of this hotel is fantastic as it is very central to the whole island and all the sites are only a short drive away. The hotel itself is quite nice, the lobby is beautiful as well as the pool area and hot tubs. The access to the beach out front is great too. The only downside was that the first room we walked into had a very strong odour of mildew or mould, like the humidity had got into the carpet or furniture. My husband has asthma and is quite sensitive to mildew so we asked to change rooms. The staff member at the front desk, who I can't remember his name, was excellent and very understanding. He got us a new room straight away and there were no problems with the second room. Would definitely stay here again.
Good Choice Among Many

Stayed 4 nights, 3 for vacation and one for a conference. Our room was well appointed and big enough. Beds were comfortable, and there was a small refrigerator that worked well and was not noisy. Big screen TV with many channels (but why would you go to Hawaii to watch TV?). Many rooms seem to have a view of the ocean - ours was more a of partial view, and at some distance, however, it was pleasant to sit out on the balcony, and catch the wonderful cool trade winds. There are some 4 swimming pools, a fitness center, a restaurant and a couple of bars. On Tuesday nights there is a musical show in the pool area. We got tickets for 2 Mai Tais when checking in, but we ended up watching from the room balcony. Staff was friendly and helpful. Be aware that like most better hotels on Kauai, there is a “resort fee” in addition to the room cost. It covers internet, parking and the “free drinks”. Just beyond the pools is the beach. It is not really a swimming beach due to rough currents and sharp coral, however, we did see one brave soul going in. This hotel is located not far from the airport and all of the east side attractions, such as the Lydgate Farms Chocolate Tour. Beware there always seems to be a lot of traffic going through Kapa’a. Staff was helpful and friendly. Spent some time in the bar with our group – when the live entertainment started, a hotel guest did a spontaneous Hula – it was quite fun.
Great staff and awesome pools

Check-in at the hotel was awesome. Everyone were super warm and friendly . We got a room with a view of the pool and very close to the center of the resort (take in mind when booking a room that one with Mountain View can be on the other side of the resort). The pools were nice and the jacuzzis / hot rubs were exactly what we needed when it got cold. Beach- nice for a short walk, haven’t seen anyone getting in. Location- very close to the waterfall, in the center between the south east to north east, close to Kapaa. However, after staying on the island for 5 days, I’d probably choose to stay in Poipu which is warmer and has much more things to do. Bicycles- they don’t have bikes to rent but if you go but north to Kapaa (10 minutes), you can rent bikes and go on a beautiful bike trail . Coffee/ souvenirs- there’s a store inside the hotel that serves Starbucks coffee which was a great way to start the day. The staff there is awesome. Food- I wish they had more gluten free / dairy free options for breakfast . Outdoor activities- prices were higher than most places, so book it online * make sure to rent a car . Uber is super expensive there although the drivers are extremely nice and after couple days, you know most of them . Lol
Love Kauai Beach Resort!

This was our second stay at KBR and definitely won’t be the last. The location can’t be beat, literally minutes from the airport and centrally located between Lihue and Kapaa, on a beautiful stretch of beach. Though not the newest nor fanciest resort, the grounds are beautiful and overall the property and rooms are very well maintained and a great value. We come to Kauai to relax and recharge and barely left the resort during either stay. For that, KBR is pretty perfect. We ate lunch at the pool bar and ordered room service for dinner and enjoyed all our meals. Nothing extraordinary but very tasty and satisfying.
