The view was fantastic as we were on a high floor and overlooked the harbour and sea. The room was very spacious however it was tired and the bed was hard. The cleaning was substandard. After the cleaner had been the shower smelled of a dirty cloth. They did not wash the dishes. Our family were staying somewhere else so we used their pool as we did not like the pool at the llikai. There was no complimentary water. The receptionist who checked us in and out, same person, was very efficient and pleasant. Great location and great views but would not stay there again.
Rude front desk associate and outdated facilities
HL11111 (San Jose, California)
The front desk guy "Ron" trying to trick me with the city view room. I clearly said I paid for a partial ocean view room. What's more, he told me since you only stay here for one night and I guess you don't have time to go to the beach, so I don't need to give you a beach towel card. YOU DON'T TELL YOUR GUEST WHAT THEY SHOULD DO. You just offer whatever the guest paid for which all the service included in the resort fee. The furniture and carpet have been worn out and everything is so outdated. Avoid this place by all your means
Week for relaxation and battery re-charge between Japan and Cuba
Meg R (NSW, Australia)
We had a week to fill in between the Rugby World Cup / visit to family in Japan and a tour of Cuba. Hawaii looked like a good place to do this. Recommended to us by a friend the Ilikai has been that perfect stop-off. Starting with early checkin (for a price) after getting off a long (crossing the dateline) flight...we stayed in a Luxury Sunset Junior Suite with Ocean View and Kitchen. The room is super spacious (luxury after Japan) with all mod cons. Very comfortable bed and beautiful view with verandah overlooking the marina and wonderful sunsets. The kitchen well appointed with very large fridge and good cooking facilities. The small shop on the ground floor has all the essentials and friendly, helpful staff, with super markets in walking distance for anything more substantial. The daily amenities fee covers a free DVD hire. We had trouble with the DVD player which also works as a playstation...but a friendly engineer (actually 3 engineers! one after the other) finally taught us how to use... A day tour of the the island starting with a visit to Pearl Harbour is a MUST. The tour bus picked us up at 7am from outside our hotel and delivered us back at 5.30. We booked the tour through Tripadvisor...Aircon in the room worked really well and is a must if you don't want to experience 30 degrees and high humidity. We didn't use the swimming pool which looked small and a bit murky!
Good Property in HNL

I stayed at the Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites for one night in May. While I'm not a huge fan of Honolulu I found the location to be good and the hotel to be clean and well staffed. We had a suite on a high floor. Great view, spacious lanai. The hotel lobby and grounds feel a bit dated but the rooms are nice. We had a kitchenette and there are plenty of stores close by as is the Ala Moana Beach Park. If an urban beach vacation is on your list then the Ilikai Hotel is worth checking out.
The Ilikai saved my honeymoon!

Honestly what can I say to this wonderful hotel and it’s hospitality besides thank you! Thank you a million times. A little backstory we booked our entire 6 day trip in Oahu at a different hotel and two hours after getting there we ran for hills, it was a total dump. With bed bugs, dirty weird stained carpets and all. That hotel had decent reviews so I was in complete shock when we checked in and saw it’s dismal state. I was panicking about what we’re going to do because I knew we couldn’t stay at that place. My husband and I were on the brink of changing our flights to just go back home. I remembered the Ilikai because I stayed there for a week back in 2016 and had all pleasant memories. We decided to drive to the hotel and ask about pricing instead of going through Expedia and just talk to someone in person to try to salvage our honeymoon. I figured I had stayed here before and it was great so something familiar was very comforting. Mark at the front desk was that guy and boy did he deliver. He first heard our story as I inquired about a room there and he was very genuinely upset for us as well with our whole fiasco. He let us know about a last minute deal on an oceanfront room and we jumped at the chance. He was phenomenal, we got a beautiful room on the 23rd floor and he even had a bottle of champagne sent up to us to celebrate our honeymoon. Mark saved my night and my trip, no more frustrated tears just mimosas! That is literally the reason that from now on every time I’m in Oahu I will only stay at the Ilikai. P.s Also the coffee house downstairs and ice cream shop are delicious!
