No plans? No worries. Go holoholo (out for the fun). On Maui, you can take your days as they come, and plan your adventures spontaneously. The journey is the destination.
People say Maui no ka oi (Maui is the best) because Maui has it all. The gorgeous coastlines have some of the best waves to surf and serene habitats to snorkel. Relaxation becomes an art when you're watching a sublime sunset on a picture-perfect beach. What color sand do you like on your beach? Take your pick, because we’re all about variety -- from black to green to red. This island is yours to explore... the way you want to explore it.
Upcountry is the place to go holoholo. The only thing sweeter than the lavender and eucalyptus-scented air, is the eclectic boutiques and organic ranches.
Lahaina is more than just a cute beach town with a lot of t-shirt vendors. It’s full of great dining, shopping, and historical landmarks. The humpback whales love to swim by its shores in winter.
Wailea is where you find the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii. You’ll have a tough time deciding between going snorkeling, surfing, or just relaxing -- and an easy time doing them all.
If you ask for directions on Maui, the locals will answer in the amount of time that it takes to get there, and landmarks along the way.
Maui will literally blow you away. It can be very windy on the Island, especially in the afternoon.
Take a helicopter tour to be let in on Maui’s marvelous secrets, like hidden waterfalls. A 40-50 minute tour will give you the most bang for your buck.
From late November to early April, Maui gets a visit from its favorite winter tourists: humpback whales. Take a boat from Lahaina or Maalaea to see them up close. They're hard to miss.
We stayed here for 5 nights in November. The location is good. Rooms are great. Very good landscaping around 2 swimming pools. Some rooms (like X20 ones) have a kitchen and there's a grocery store opposite - so you can prepare your breakfast or meal just in case you want to ditch the in-house restaurant or near-by ones. You can avail fresh towels every time you go to pool or beach using your towel card. They have in-house expedia desk where you can get tips on trip or avail service to book an activity or guided tour.
Few things we didn't like -
1. We booked sea-view rooms and we're allotted a X20 series room. But we felt it's not as such sea-view and not worth spending extra bucks. Rooms closer to beach-side pool have much better sea-view. Here check-in service needs improvement.
2. Even though the room is equipped with kitchen, no dishwasher pod is provided. If you want buy from stores, you need to buy too many than you need for 4-5 days. As part of room cleaning service, they should provide 1 or 2 dishwasher pod everyday.
3. Similar is case with pod for washing machine.
4. No comb, shower cap, moisturizer etc. provided as part of toiletries.
5. The menu at the in-house restaurant doesn't have much options.

You get a well maintained location with a good restaurant, good beach and two pools that never seem to be too full (there during Thanksgiving week). The one is in the tropical like one (five feet max depth) and then the other is a basic lap pool. The strip mall across the street had good offerings and then at night they had these food trucks that seemed quite popular. The restaurant on-site was quite good as well. They also had a coffee stand in the am or each day you got one pot for in your room. There was enough plates etc. for us to make breakfast or rehear leftovers. They finally had some stores that didn’t have horrible prices.
I am pretty sure every condo is different. So, here was the good and bad. I think for the price and location you are getting a good value. I think our unit was quite dated. Furniture wasn’t that comfortable and then we had a full size bed in the master and two twins in the second. I think the couch pulled out but would have been extremely uncomfortable. Not sure our two bedroom condo should have been described to hold 5-7. Ours felt crammed at four sometimes. We did have two bathrooms which was really nice. Finally, everything in our unit needed some TLC. Laundry door didn’t close right, patio door didn’t close right, light switches didn’t work, overhead microwave was broken so they had a smaller counter one at least. We were right by the pool and if I had all the patio doors closed it was still quiet in our room.
If you stay here I highly recommend a car. Seems we were in that thing several times a day, needed it to get everywhere.
Overall, we had a great vacation and the kids had fun. They were able to meet other kids at the pool to play football, etc. on the lawn. I had read reviews about the dates suites so I was ready for it. Your really pay to be on the Lahaina side so I understood the cost once I compared to other locations. Also, not sure I would do Hawaii without a condo.
Better than expected!

Although the condo was definitely pretty dated, it was clean and spacious. We got a complimentary upgrade to an ocean view room and the balcony was a lovely place to watch the sunset from! The bed wasn't particularly comfortable though, and felt like the sheets had been laid directly on top of a plastic mattress cover.
While the pool was nice, I wouldn't recommend coming here for the beach- there is only a short strip of rough sand before the beach drops off, the waves are very rough and there are a lot of coral fragments that don't make it great for swimming.Very convenient location with a lot of food trucks and restaurants within walking distance
Great stay in Maui

My family had a great stay at Aston Kaanapali shores. The room was perfect for my family of 4. Everything was clean & in good condition. The kids slept on the fold out couch, which had a new mattress & was comfortable. Me & my wife slept in the bedroom & had no complaints. Having a kitchen was very convenient, as we were able to have breakfast & snacks in our room each day, which saved a lot of money. There is also a washer & dryer in the room for laundry. The garden view patio was very nice for sipping on my early morning coffee while listening to birds chirping.
The location is great, as there is a grocery store, restaurants, shaved ice & snorkeling rental across the street. There is also a food truck lot next door, which had great variety & was affordable.
The beach was small, but did have nice sand & there is a larger area off to the left. There was plenty of room to find a space without being crowded. However, there are a lot of rocks in the water, so I recommend wearing swimming shoes. The pools were just average for a resort of this size, so we mostly visited other nearby beaches for swimming.
The staff was friendly, the grounds are well kept & the house cleaning was excellent. The cost we paid was very reasonable. I would return & recommend this place as a good value.
Nice Hotel -if you get a good room location.

We booked via Hotels.com expecting a garden view, but upon arrival, our view was of the backside and water canal. We talked to the front desk, which was unhelpful. Hotels.com talked to reservations, and made no progress. The next day, we talked with someone different at the front and they said a room was coming available the next day and we could move!! Thank you!! I wish we had gotten his name.
If we had to stay in the original room, this would be a different review. It had issues. However, the new garden view room fine! View was everything we expected. The 2 pools were nice and large, they never seemed over crowded. The pool closest to ocean was slightly heated, so that was nice for evening swimming. There were hot tubs at both. We rented a weeks worth of snorkel gear for 2 for $35, which was convenient.
It is right beside a food truck park, so that was convenient for a quick and good meal.
The pillows were not comfortable. One was not enough and two was too much. Parking was convenient and easy. Sunsets were amazing.
Overall, I rate our stay very good along with a good price. Would go back.
First trip to Hawaii, good condo, best beach, should've listened to friend's advice tho...

Serendipitously, our friends have direct-owner-rentals in bldg 1 overlooking the court yard in between the two towers. We were too frazzled trying to figure it all out (lack of mental capacity due to crazy months of work) and went to a travel agent, which got us a slightly better price b/c of their purchasing discount, but we didn't have control over the room location.
Our friends suggested calling the Whaler's 1-800 number and requesting Bld 1 (b/c updated furnishings compared to 2) and overlooking courtyard, but we procrastinated and called too late. We landed in Bldg 2, not overlooking the courtyard (which would have been prettier), but west facing over the whaler village which was still incredibly nice. We were on the 8th floor and I'd recommend fl 8 or higher for ocean views! Bring a bit of tinfoil, saran wrap, maybe a lockable tupperware container for food, as these aren't provided, but virtually everything else is. Also bring good thermal water bottles that you can pack with ice from your room and add ice tea or water from the lobby to keep hydrated - it'll save you buying bottles of it over and over.
OUR ROOM: 865
BEST ADVICE - don't do bldg 1 east view, your ocean sights are impeded.
IN SEQUENCE, TRY - bldg 1 west side overlooking courtyard, then Bldg 2 east overlooking courtyard, then Bldg 2 west side overlooking whaler's village. In all, 8th floor or higher.
The studio apt. was well appointed, the bed awesome, they had dishwasher/sink/laundry soap provided. Balcony was lovely. Shower walk-in. Safe in large walk-in closet. The room was ideal for 2 adults, and I could see it being fine for an additional child too b/c seating is for 4 and room is large to accommodate.
Safeway is 10 minutes down the road - buy food and bring it back by catching the public transit next door at Whaler Village for $2 to Lahaina, which you must plan to visit. They have neat touristy shops (prices differ per - so compare), an outlet mall, and a really neat boardwalk area with great architecture, scenery, eateries overlooking the water, and the banyan tree is actually worth the visit.
We are planning to do a full day-trip to Hana (everyone advises start early - 7 ish - and plan a full day for a sunset there). Also, the Old Lahaina was the luau we wanted to go see, but plan ahead and book early. Instead, we could get into Drums of the Pacific which is bigger, less authentic, but fine for first-timers like us I'm sure. We did a lot of research on luau's and snorkeling excursions. To save money we considered just renting on the beach by Black Rock, but to ensure we make the most of our time, booked a morning trip with Magic Merman. It was cheaper to book Magic Merman for the snorkel through Expedia than their own website, btw, b/c no booking fees.
Look for ABC in Whaler's Village for snacks or convenience food stuff, even liquor. The first time we needed to forage for food, I could only find a seafood burger and fries for $25 and it was meh. The next day I found ABC and could have gotten snacks, fresh fruit, sandwiches and the sort there for pennies, comparatively.
I have issue with paying $25 for a boogie board that I can't fit in my luggage and would have to leave behind after a day or two of use, but what I found is that there's many who do, then just discard perfectly good ones on the beach come sun down, so we snagged two and enjoyed the day on them and will gift them to others when we leave. We also brought a decent beach mat with us and that worked great on the beach without needing to rent chairs. We also brought a small collapsible 6 can cooler that with ice, allows you to bring snacks or lunch with you to the beach or on the road to Hana, or to keep groceries cool when travelling to/from Ka'anapali.
For a first time visit, I would repeat every single minute. I've traveled over 20 countries and quite extensively through Canada and U.S. (by motorcycle predominately) and I hope to make this a routine visit for us every 2-3 years.

Staying at the Whaler on Kaanapali Beach in Nov 2019 was our best family vacation yet. Room 920, two bedroom, on bath, ocean view of black rock. The room was so beautiful and we loved our balcony. The location was perfect for a family of 4 with kids ages 11 and 9. It was directly on the beach, walking distance to lively restaurants, and many hotel options to get meals. Snorkeling at Blackrock was so cool, eels, turtles colorful fish. We went on a boat/snorkel trip to Lanai, Kayaking and snorkel, Road to Hana to see many wonderful waterfalls.
We loved our room, the pool, the beach, the black rock and walk distance to so many things. We had a great day golfing at The Royal Kaanapali and our youngest went to the kids club at the Aston Kaanapali Shores. She had a great experience.
Our son had his 11th birthday and the staff was so gracious and made him feel very special. We want to give a shout out to Nathan for his great informative conversations, fish food and singing Happy Birthday, Cheri for her kindness and support celebrating Jaxen's birthday, Nicki for her advice and photos of us, Princess for fun conversations, Michael for his towel and info, Ben for his insights on the island, Gasty for helping Jaxen have a fire by the beach at night and Dexter and Rod for their fun conversations with Jaxen.
We can't thank you enough for making us feel so comfortable. It was our Home Away From Home!
We want to plan a trip back next year to see the whales.
The Whaler was an amazing experience, not only because of the property but more importantly because of the people. I am a business professional in the Washington DC area and my company believes in being customer obsessed, this was a great example of the staff going above and beyond to amaze and delight their customers. And it was because they truly cared.

Gorgeous condo! Beautiful beach steps away.

This place was gorgeous! We had a spacious condo with a king bed in the bedroom and ensuite bathroom and a pull out sofa in the living room which was plenty comfortable. The second full bathroom was fantastic for two girls vacationing together. The kitchen was well stocked and beautiful. A lovely wraparound deck with plenty of choices of patio furniture. We didn't want to leave. Safe, gated entrance, secure underground parking and a $10 drop in yoga every second day. Ocean view and a view of the ocean from the living room mirror made it seem extra luxurious! Highly recommend this fabulous place!
great location, near everything that you'll need, shopping and entertainment next door.

Nice place with beautiful grounds, independently owned units. Great 24hr gym with free parking, 3 miles to Lahaina, shopping center next door. The beach area has chairs, water toys, towels etc and is open till 10pm.

The Aston Whaler is located right on Kaanapali beach, right next to Whaler Village. Almost all of the Condos have beautiful ocean views, ours was no exception. The grounds are beautiful and meticulously maintained by talented landscapers. The staff are super helpful and very interactive. We even got a personal welcome as we walked through the front door the first time.
The Whaler is about 5 miles from Lahaina. We used a rental car to get around (there's on-site parking), but ride-share is also available. Excellent restaurants and activities are all nearby, and the sunsets over the beach are ridiculously beautiful.
Be careful choosing the location of your unit. We were in building #2 facing the courtyard, with a perfect view of the ocean. We had shade on our balcony the entire day. The renters in building #1 facing the courtyard, with a view of the ocean, were in the sun the entire day. It gets VERY hot and those balconies are unusable.
I highly recommend the Aston Whaler.
We had an ocean view room in updated tower. Our room was next to the elevator which I thought would be a problem, ended up I preferred the location and would ask for it in the future. The grounds were nice and will be incredible after the renovation. We had no problem with service while we were there. Location is directly next door to Whalers Village with many restaurants and entertainment.
Nice Affordable Maui Experience

I was very hesitant after booking this place. I had no idea if the affordability of this place was going to translate to a dump. After driving by the Marriotts and Westin’s I was nervous, the outside seemed less than glamorous. The front desk service was inviting and pleasant. She informed me I was upgraded to a premium hotel room for free. This is key for those of you booking here. I saw inside some rooms and they seemed dreary, run down and out dated. Being that the outside wasn’t spectacular I was so happy when I opened the door to a modern, clean room. The next morning I realized I had hit a jackpot. The people were so kind, I was steps from one of the most gorgeous beach with a beautiful view of the other islands. The people staying here were all wonderful and shared stories of loving this place and come back time and time again. You might not have all the upscale amenities of other places but this is affordable and still very nice, besides who spends all there time at the hotel when you are in Maui!! If you are looking for affordable and comfortable with beautiful surroundings, I highly suggest this place.
P.s. if you book through a third party timeshare you have less control of what you get and how it’s kept up. And there isn’t much the hotel can do for you
It is teetering on the verge of being really worn out.

There are newer places on Maui that someone could stay for a less 80's vibe than what this place gives off, but we were 25 yds from the beach and overlooking the pool from our second story privately owned villa. It was a cheap remodel, but it was decent overall. I didn't care for the constant stream of ants that were there all over the kitchen. We walked in and the counter was basically moving with tiny little ants swarming it. it was clean, it just has an ant problem.
My other issue I have with the property, being on the front south side we were on.. The 'beach walk' went under our building, cutting between us and the pool, then leading out to the parking lot heading north. Why is that a bad thing? For us it was just watching a spectacle of people walking and running by below our lanai. For the people who were on the ground floor below us in our building.. Imagine going out on your lanai and having hundreds upon hundreds of people walking past you about 15' away all day long. Like having a highway of people while you are just trying to sit outside and relax, never mind that their privacy would have been next to nil even if they went inside and didn't have their drapes closed. it makes for less than an intimate setting with them showing photos of the property with no one on them. When reality is the exact opposite. We had people basically staring up at us when we were eating, or just hanging out on our lanai. The signs call it the 'beach walk', once you are heading towards whalers village and back, I called it the poop walk, or garbage walk. The smells from the back of all the hotels and properties, where the beach walk leads you. It is the grossest areas on any property.
Parking is also an issue, you pay $20 a day for a resort fee, yet they will shove you in a parking lot that is on the exact opposite corner of the property. So parking any closer is basically a free for all along the street and in any of the parking lots closer to where the front pool and beach villas are. You can find one, but it happens at certain times when everyone leaves for the day, or in the evening when people drive to go to dinner somewhere.
What they don't tell you.. Bring all your card keys and your striped towels back to the front desk when you check out. I wasn't sure and we were already hauling our luggage back to the vehicle when I checked out, I had to run back and get those in order not to be charged for losing them.
The beach out front is decent, but as long as it is.. There really isn't much real estate between the bushes and the wash of the waves all along the beach. Our second day all along the front of the property maybe had 10 parcels of dry sand where people could lay out, or set up their beach chairs. They put up warning signs about the waves and how deep the water gets just a few feet beyond where the waves roll over onto the beach. The first day wasn't that bad, but the second day people were getting tossed, we saw multiple people lose their glasses and sunglasses while they were just standing in the water, or right next to the water. There isn't anything worth looking at if you try and snorkle in front the property either. Maybe if you wanted to find a pair of sunglasses someone lost?
It isn't the best property we have stayed at in Hawaii, but is also isn't the worst that is out there. On Maui, it is the second from the bottom for us and that is only because our least favorite was along the golf course with no easy access to the beach.

We had a nice week here - people are very friendly, apartment was qite roomy - house keeper was always nice and early. Loved to spacious dressing room area.
Didnt really use many facilities, however free trolley service to Whalers was great.
Tried to rent a cabana bed on the beach however all had been hired as not many of them - and beach attendant wasnt too helpful.
Apart from this cannot fault the resort. Grounds always nicely cared for.

We loved everything about this resort. The rooms, the location, beach, pool, etc. It is difficult to find hotels with 2 King or Queen sized beds and a sleeper sofa. We chose renting a private condo at MKV because it had 2 Queens and a sleeper, plus a kitchen and washer/dryer. It was incredibly large and comfortable. The MVK resort is just north of Black rock on Kaanapali beach.
We steered clear of the condo sales & activities desk and “free drinks” and were never bothered with any sales pitches.

Very large one bedroom condo. Wonderful secluded oceanfront hotel. Enjoyed watching the sea turtles from our room, daily walks on the beach and the amazing sunsets.
Close to supermarket, resturants and more. Just a short walk on the beach to Dukes!

We stayed 5 days at the Aston Mahana. The location can't be beat. The units are directly on the water, allowing turtle, wildlife, and dolphin viewing from inside the unit. It's also very conveniently located to restaurants and the food truck court. It's quieter than the bigger resorts and has a very nice pool and jacuzzi. We will definitely be looking to stay here again on our next trip to Maui.
Great Location and Great Experience

My wife and I stayed here with another couple. It was the best experience we could have asked for. Very close to supermarket , food and the beach! Had an amazing pool and hot tub. Here the waves as you fall asleep! We were literally right on the water. We saw turtles from our room every day and we even saw a pod of dolphins from our room! We also felt very safe and secure. I plan to stay here again on my next trip to Maui.

Our favorite spot in Hawaii!! After over 20 years away, we returned to find the Mahana as wonderful as ever. Beautiful oceanfront property with floor to ceiling views of Lanai and Molokai. Friendly staff, comfortable condos and even though it is older, it remains updated. There is now more options nearby for groceries and restaurants than when we used to stay there in the 80s and 90s. Love, love, love it!
Wonderful unit and property!

We stayed in unit 606 and it was a fantastic experience. The unit was immaculate and stocked with everything we needed. The view from the room was breathtaking. The floor to ceiling windows made it feel like you were on the ocean. We enjoyed great snorkeling right outside of the property, and we were within walking distance of a bunch of great restaurants. We are already planning our next trip back. Would highly recommend!
The first day I arrived I was so happy being at Hawaii. It was a. Uso esa trip for me and I had 5 days at Maui but only one working day! So there was plenty of time to explore around. Everyplace I visit, I like asking locals what’s places I should visit. And so I did with this hotel. I went to reception again after my check in and ask the lady there. Her answer was very astonishing: she said GOOGLE it with an attitude meaning leave me alone, being very rude. Next day I wanted some assistance about luau local dances. The lady at the reception (different one) was more cooperative but still the final answer was look online for everything.
The management of this property AND the ladies at the reception need to understand that they have a job and they are busy because of the tourism and being let of the tourism industry they need to happily serve the client. If you can’t do that ladies, please go and wash dishes at local tavernas or restaurant. Since this is your business choice you need to support it. Yes of course I knew I can google everything online, but it was not the answer I expected.
Highly disappointed and I do not recommend this property to anyone because of the attitude of the reception team members (not all of them of course!). The manager should have a word with them to be friendlier to the client OR get rid of them!!! 👎👎👎

We spend 1 night at Maui beach as we had an extra night in Maui after leaving our condo. We location was great as it was close to the airport. And most importantly, the frond desk were fantastic and very accommodating as they let us have a 3 pm check out which was important as our flight left at midnight. Concierge allowed us to store our bags before and after check-in and check-out so we didn't have to lug our bags all over the place. It was very affordable and was close to shopping to keep us busy.
Good job guys!

Not much positive to say about this hotel apart from its central position on the island meaning you are at a good starting point for daily adventures.
We arrived believing we had booked a room with a balcony (based on information on the hotel group, Aqua-Aston, website) however this was not so and we were fairly disappointed because our plan had been to sit out in the evening while our daughter slept inside. I raised this with reception and they could not help and didn’t even know the name of the group who owns the hotel. I contacted the group directly and am still awaiting a response (10 days and counting).
So the actual room was large however not the cleanest I have seen, carpets needed a good vacuum for sure. This lack of cleaning was especially disappointing as it was sold as an ‘ocean view’, tricky to view when the windows are dirty inside and out. And to be honest I wouldn’t say it was an ocean view, more like a bay that had cruise liners and cargo ships coming in and out. The small beach at the end of the gardens is dirty and needs some attention to clean it up.
Housekeeping was hit and miss, they seemed to clean and replace some items but miss others randomly, just little things like the coffee one day and the soaps another, but it added to our overall impression.
The staff weren’t friendly, when we went out each day we would always say good morning but were ignored. When I checked out there was no asking if I had enjoyed my stay or wishing us safe travels. Customer service was poor.
Oh and breakfast was available but I wouldn’t bother, over priced for what you get. Try Tante’s next door or head down to Paia and go to Charley’s.
I will not be going back and I would not recommend this hotel.
Convenient location
dannygoya2012
(Honolulu, Hawaii)
Convenient location in the heart of Maui about two miles from the airport and the central hub of any direction one would need to go to navigate Maui. It is across of it a shopping mall with food options and about three long blocks from Whole Foods.
Check-in was easy, staff was helpful I got a room upgrade. The room was pretty basic, old but clean. There was a little mold on the shower head, but honestly rooms in Maui are incredibly expensive. You get your value here.
So why the two-stars? I was not feeling well so I went to bed early. I get a call from the front desk at 10:30 asking if I was part of an insurance group that had a number of rooms at the hotel. I say no and go back to bed. That’s somewhat forgivable I guess. What is not is that I get a call five minutes later and asked the same question. I also want to add that I scheduled a wake up call and did not get it. Fortunately I woke up on my own and wasn’t late for my business appointment.
You get what you pay for- but the hotel needs to address personnel issues.
The resort personnel are a LOT more interested in what you are not allowed to do than they are seeing that you have a great time there. We called to ask that the table top be attached to the base, (2 screws that had come loose) but they couldn't do anything about that. They said "call the owner" but didn't have contact info for the owner. Likewise the undersink cabinet door that had come off (another screw loose). But they were johnny on the spot if we put a pool floatie on the balcony to dry, if we were playing cards IN THE UNIT with the balcony door open after lockdown hours, or if we were even playing in the pool with our granddaughters. If you're old, go to bed a 8:00, and don't mind unit maintenance not done, then this is the place for you. If you're interested in a whole family vacation from grandkids to grandparents, then I suggest looking elsewhere. Friendliness factor pretty much nonexistent.

Great property and highly recommend this resort.
I have stayed here several times, this is the first time through the Aston themselves versus an individual owner. We loved Unit A-305 - oceanfront. Great unit, updated.
The bathroom has a walk in tiled shower - nice! Granite counter tops, single sink. It had very nice storage if needed.
Bedroom - had AC unit. Closer with sliding glass doors. Bed itself was comfortable and a king size bed - only comment is needed more lighting. Ceiling fan.
Kitchen is good sized. Granite counter tops, dishwasher, electric stove, microwave. Everything needed to cook if you wanted to do so. Nice wrap around sit counter.
Living room was open to kitchen and dining area. Flat screen TV. Rattan furniture - maybe a bit worn, but not bad. AC in living area as well.
Balcony - had an awesome view of the ocean out front. Loved it. Table and 4 chairs on the balcony.
Could hear the ocean at night - waves - nice and relaxing. Elevators in the building and we had free parking. Wifi worked great. Quiet, did not hear the neighbors.
2 pools on the property and hot tubs. Access to the beach out front (sea wall), but mostly sandy with a couple of reefs. We got in no problem.
Couple of tennis courts = need reservations.
Area - great - walking distance (easy) to shops, food, bar, etc. Food truck court right next door for dinner which was great. Easy walk to the Kanaapali walk way.
Staff was great and responsive.
Would stay here again no worries.

The air conditioning units are on timers. A bit of a pain but better than no ac. We had a 3rd floor ocean facing unit. Beautiful view. Some noise from neighbors but the ocean waves and ac noise drowned out some of it. Very nice updated kitchen and bath. 2 hot tubs in common areas that we used each night. Just had to check both to see which was the quietest. Most of the other residents were friendly/helpful. Saw a monk seal out front one day, awesome experience. Best place to eat was the food truck parking lot down the road. Best walking path was the public access/parking for the beach just past the food truck parking lot. Quietest beach was Oneloa, a 15 minute drive north.
Beautiful and convenient location in West Maui.

Our stay at Paki Maui was well worth the price. This condo style accommodation provided great views, an uncrowded beach area, with an easy to find location. We found Paki Maui to be a great place to rest up after our daily adventures.
Great Place to stay!!

This place had the most beautiful view to wake up to every morning! Beach access, and it's not over crowded like a lot of other beaches. Great pool/hot tub. The staff was helpful and the condo was clean and full of everything you need to make your vacation memorable!! I can't wait to go back!!!
Excellent location!

Best Value on Maui

There is no better value for the price in Maui. The views are absolutely stunning, the pool area has grills and a hot tub and the location is central. You can even snorkel right outside your room and if you don’t have equipment, you can rent from Boss Frogs a half block down. In addition, the customer service is excellent. I was a little worried reading the reviews that there’s no air but it wasn’t an issue if you’re not living in the room. In the evening there’s a wonderful cool breeze so keep the windows open for the sounds of waves and ocean breeze. Couldn’t have had a better vacation! Thank you Paki Maui!
Great view and amazing Sunsets.

Great price.Close to eateries and awesome farmers market . Room was average , clean ,no air conditioning, kitchen fan hits cabinet door when open. Close to island activities, beach, snorkeling etc. Would probably stay here again. It meet our needs.
This is the third time we have been to stay at the Maui hill with all 20 of us! We are here along with our four children and their spouses and our 10 grandchildren so we are really quite a force to be reckoned with! Dennis the general manager and all his staff welcome us with open arms every time we come and make us feel like this is our second home.
The Monday Mai Tais are fantastic! Dennis & his staff host a wonderful event poolside complete with drinks and chips and entertainment. I am actually regretting writing this review because I want this to remain our secret!! Don’t ever retire Dennis!!!!
Nice for some but no comparison to resorts

The units are very large, but just one queen bed. Like most units in Hawaii the rooms and furniture is dated. Plus having a washer and dryer. Not a easy walk to the beach from location, but works for those with a rental car. larger groups that don't mind sleeping on floor or couch bed would be perfect unit.
Beautiful welcome to Maui!

Thank you to Dennis and the whole Crew at Aston Maui Hill for making my family and I feel so welcome to the island. We just moved from Seattle with two young babies and stayed on property for about two months. The garden view unit we stayed at was a spacious two bedroom unit with a big great room. The unit was home away from
home with full access kitchen to washer and dryer. I loved the location being right across from the ocean with amazing sunset views. Easy access to shopping and dining as well as beautiful walks by the water.
Everybody from the front desk, maintenance, to house keeping were so friendly and respectful. My babies and I were around property a lot and always had a good time. The property has free parking and felt safe. I feel like I made some new friends and I will be visiting again soon! Thank you Dennis and to your team taking such good care of us. Mahalo!

Home away from home

We have been going to Maui every year for over 20 years and always stay at the Maui Hill. One main reason is their General Manager, Dennis Costa, who always makes us feel like we are coming home. Every condo we stayed at (1 bedroom, 2 bedrooms 3 bedrooms) had a beautiful ocean view, where we could watch the sunset, as well as had dinner on the lanai. If you are looking for a comfortable, relaxing and quiet home away from home place to stay with friendly staff, this is the place.
Perfect Sunsets

We had a 3 bedroom at the Aston Maui Hill and the sunsets were absolutely stunning from the lanai every single day of our trip. The location is perfect, close to all the beaches in Kihei, restaurants, etc. Dennis is amazing and always made sure we had everything we needed and that our stay was more than perfect.
Spent our wedding anniversary in Maui, stayed for 3 nights there was a problem in the bathroom with the first apartment,so we were upgraded to a beautiful apartment in the main building. Staff were lovely the manager sent us wine/ chocolates to our apartment. We hired beach chairs so didn't use the pool but it did look nice surrounded by beautiful gardens . We enjoyed our trip to Kihei ,Maui and will never forget it thankyou for making it memorable.
Reasonable condo located across the street from Kamaole Beach Park, nonchalant service

This hotel is comprised of individually owned condo units centrally managed by Aston. There is a separate hotel, the Maui Banyan, in the front, closest to the street/beach, then a separately managed condo structure, followed by the four Aston managed condo structures at the rear, furthest from the street/beach. The furthest condo, latest in the alpha, would be 400 meters from the street.
Massive parking structure, lower levels are reserved for permanent residents, thus usually need to go to the rooftop.
Each condo unit comes equipped with a full kitchen. The unit, sofa, carpet, and blankets had a stale smell. Being aligned vertically toward the ocean, ocean views were partial. Otherwise, it was functional and close enough to a nice wide white sand beach.
Service was nonchalant. Front desk was rigid with a 4PM check-in and 11AM check-out. Rules stated to empty trash upon check-out, a bit away being next to the parking structure. We were miffed when searching for the trash bin, asked a custodian in a cart, who verbalized the directions, then ended up seeing him there ... why didn't he offer to take our one bag of rubbish in his nearly empty cart???
Many similar choices along the Kihei/Wailea coastline. Would only stay here again if the price is right.
Clean, comfortable and a quick walk across the street to Kamaole Beach Park II.

We just returned from a 10 day visit to Maui and were extremely happy with this property and the front office staff. This was our first stay at the Aston Maui Banyan. We stayed in a gorgeous one bedroom unit with a partial ocean view overlooking S. Kihei Road with views of Molokini in the distance. Our unit had been updated and we were very pleased with the kitchen and bathroom with its walk-in shower. The gardens are beautifully kept and landscaped. The unit we stayed in was quiet and peaceful. What impressed us the most however was the professionalism of the front office staff particularly Cat in the front office who was so kind and helpful throughout our stay. We would most definitely recommend this property. It is clean, quiet and you can't beat the location in Kihei. We visited Kamaole Beach II for our morning swim, sunset viewing and also walked across and plunked our beach chairs down at night for a third time to enjoy listening to the ocean and viewing the stars before bedtime. We more than got our money's worth at the Aston Maui Banyan. We also enjoyed the convenience of being able to walk two short blocks to Coconut's Fish Cafe and other shopping. We would definitely book this property again.
Nice location, Very Clean rooms, Little Outdated, Small Balcony

The rooms are spotless and well maintained although some of the furnature and amenities are not very modern any more.
Individual decorations as rooms are private owned and managed by Aston company.
Nice view, but very small balcony to realy sit on it.
We had a standardroom (decent size and very clean) which came with a microwave, coffee maker fridge and toaster. Free coffee as part of the resort fee every day. Hoever no utensils to use the toaster or microwave.
Plenty of free parking on the property.
Checkin friendly at 15:50 but they realy let us wait till the 16:00 to be allowed in the room which does note make sense to me.
Beach park accros the street for nice sunsets, recommended.
Worst condo - won’t be back

We won’t be coming back here. We booked this through Costco, and only booked because it was the least expensive, and we are in the midst of building a home. We knew it wasn’t going to be a great, but didn’t expect it to be as bad as it is.
These condos are all privately owned and rented through Aston. So it’s hit or miss on how well stocked and maintained your condo is. We must have gotten a bad one.
We were in the last building which had a lot of road noise at night. We had a HUGE ant problem both in the kitchen (before food was even present) and on the patio. We hung a bath towel out there and it became infested with ants. The patio is filthy and the table/chairs are clearly not cleaned.
It’s walking distance to a beach, but the waves crash hard at this beach so it’s not great for family swimming.
The cleaning service doesn’t clean well. We rarely had clean towels and they definitely don’t sweep like they say they do.
Also, we though we lucked out with the washer/dryer, but unfortunately they are so old that the dryer didn’t dry at all. We ended up hanging clothes everywhere to dry on their own.
We will not be coming back, I wish we had just spent a little bit more for a nicer place.
Let’s be clear: The water off Maui’s South Shore is so clear that you can see up to 150 feet depths. Add in the world’s friendliest sea turtles, spinner dolphins, plus hundreds of species of fish, and you’ve got the finest snorkeling in all of Hawaii.
Water-Sports
The North Shore of Maui is where it’s at for all kinds of surfing and SUP-ing (stand up paddleboarding). Wild waves and skilled instructors are easy to find, so get in the water and take up your favorite water sport.
Zip Lining
You can hang ten in the water, but you can hang 3600 on a zipline. There are many places to zipline across the island, including Maui’s longest zipline at 3,600 feet.
