Lake Tahoe: A Year-Round Destination For Beauty & Adventure

Lake Tahoe is simply amazing. How could it not be? It’s a gorgeous alpine lake (the largest in North America), surrounded by giant mountains and nature’s beauty. The whole area is buzzing with enjoyable things to do year-round, so it’s high time that you planned a visit.

Lake Tahoe is known for having the coolest wintertime skiing and snowboarding in the snow-capped sierra, and the hottest summertime hiking, biking, and SUP-ing (stand up paddleboarding) around the lake. The many restaurants will delight your taste buds, and you can shop til you drop in the towns.

Must Go
Must Do
  1. Snowboarding in Lake Tahoe
    Winter Sports

Tahoe is as popular in winter as it is in summer. Hit the slopes for skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and tubing. Tour Tahoe’s wintery wonderland by snowmobile, or glide around an outdoor ice skating rink in South Lake Tahoe. Fun is best served on ice.

  2. Canoeing on Lake Tahoe
    Summer Sports

The good times really heat up in the summer. Lake Tahoe’s brisk, clear water is perfect for swimming, and SUP-ing. Enjoy the lake by kayak, or take an energizing bike ride around the Lake Tahoe area if you prefer to stay dry.

  3. Hiking in Lake Tahoe

Head for the hills for a thrill. There are gorgeous hiking trails around the lake, and well into the Sierra Nevada. No matter how challenging the hike, every trail comes with incredible sights. Hike the trails by horseback for a chill thrill.

  4. Hang Gliding over Lake Tahoe
    Hang Gliding

One of the best ways to experience Lake Tahoe is in the air. On a hang gliding tour of the Tahoe region, you can fly as low as 6 inches off the ground, or as high as 12,000 ft. in the air. Be sure to look down. Head to Hang Gliding Tour in Carson City to take flight.

  5. Dining in Lake Tahoe
    Dining & Shopping

All around the lake, you’ll find first-rate dining destinations, many of which have been featured in TV shows and magazines. Dine out on five-star Asian, European, and American-inspired dishes. If you need to shop, Tahoe City and South Lake Tahoe are full of boutiques perfect for finding that just-right memento.
